Purpose of this Course: The purpose of this course is to familiarize teachers with the practice of differentiation in the classroom.  What it is, why it is needed, and the various methods that can be implemented into regular instruction.

Goal: The learner will identify examples of differentiation and situations in which it is necessary.
                1. The learner will provide examples of differentiation.
                2. The learner will explain struggles of implementing differentiation.
                3. The learner will explore the role of the teacher in a differentiated classroom.
                4. The learner will discuss characteristics of learning environments that promote differentiation.

Goal: The learner will learn strategies of different forms of differentiation.                   
                1. The learner will explore differentiating by topic, by interest, and by learning profile.
                2. The learner will explore differentiation strategies by content, by process, and by products.
                3. The learner will reflect on the method of differentiation that suits specific situations.
                4. The learner will examine ways to grade and evaluate differentiated activities and products.

Assessment: By the end of the course, the participant will have modified a current lesson to include differentiation by one of the strategies discussed.  The participant will have a student sample to help direct the differentiated lesson, and will have created a rubric or grading scale ready to use in the coming school year.

We will be using Carol Ann Tomlinson's book in this course as we discuss differentiation practices.  There is a PDF copy in the first module for you to use.  The book is also available on Amazon or your library if you prefer a hard copy.
